Quite a Celebration
As I made my way home this evening, traveling my regular route, I found myself stopped at a light right next to our local Culver’s…one of my favorite places to grab a quick meal. As I pulled up, I noticed a group of people near the sign out front…the one that announces the ice cream flavor of the day and changes to tempt us with other special menu choices. But best of all, this big, bold, lighted sign also celebrates birthdays and sometimes anniversaries, too. When I finally stopped and could take in what was causing such a stir I realized that, apparently, a very special little guy was having a birthday and his name was up in lights for all of Atascocita Texas to see!
This scene was absolutely priceless. I wish I could have gotten a video to share. His captive audience appeared to be two sets of proud grandparents along with Mom and Dad. This cute little guy reminded this Nana so much of our little Henry that I couldn’t stop watching and grinning from ear to ear.
The little birthday boy posed for his adoring family underneath this big sign, turning quickly a few times, hoping to catch a glimpse of his name up in lights. But I have a feeling that he will have plenty of pictures of his moment of fame.
One grandpa, crouched down in that feet planted wide and bent over at the waist photographer stance, looked to be capturing it all, while the other gramps appeared to be making a video…both grandmas right by their sides. Dad stood in the back, with a smile like no other, taking it all in, hands raised high in applause. Then to top it all off, Mom had stood a distance away, cell phone camera rolling, obviously filming this entire, heartwarming birthday celebration.
When the light changed and I had to suddenly ‘leave the party’, I couldn’t help but smile and wish this cute little guy a Happy Birthday and wishes for many, many more…Hopefully surrounded by these same adoring ‘fans’ year after year.
Oh my goodness…special occasions shared with family are absolutely priceless…Don’t you agree?

Thank you you for sharing it with us
Your mom was a talented poet . You should compile them all into a book for your family and friends—they came straight from her heart❣️
