Our Texas Wildflowers

I absolutely love our Texas wildflowers.  I get so excited each spring season when I first catch a glimpse of a patch of our Texas Bluebonnets.  Whether standing alone or mixed with the vibrantly colored orange-red Indian Paintbrush, it is just breathtaking!

The past couple of weekends I’ve traveled down our Texas highways, first, traveling west of Fort Worth and then to the Austin area.  Both trips gave me the opportunity to soak up the beauty of our wildflowers along the way.   I traveled solo, each of these trips, but that didn’t matter. I still oohed and ahhed right out loud, saying “Thank you Lord” over and over again.  There is just something mesmerizing, stirring up an excitement in me, when I witness this special form of God’s artistry.

Now, I’ve mentioned both the beautiful Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush but I really can’t stop there.  Oh my goodness!  Our Texas countryside is graced with a myriad of wildflowers of all colors and shapes.  When mixed together, it is an absolute kaleidoscope of color to be enjoyed by anyone passing by.  The brilliant colors seem to be endless…our Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush mixed with glowing yellow, varied shades of purple, eye catching fuchsia, soft pink and nice clean white wildflowers, all resting on a fresh blanket of green under a clear blue sky…absolutely beautiful, refreshing and truly a sight to see.

After arriving at each of my destinations, while taking a walk among the flowers, I was able to look more closely and really take in the beauty and intricacy of the different blossoms.  Each is beautifully designed, as if hand painted by an incredible artist, each delicate brushstroke having been done to perfection. It’s just amazing to see how God takes such care to make even the tiniest of flowers amazingly beautiful.  None is too small to deserve God’s close attention to every detail.

I am so thankful for a God who delights in making such beautiful creations, such as our Texas wildflowers, for each of us to enjoy year after year…
