Time for a Change
A little light suddenly came on reminding me it was time for a change. Time to “clean out the old and put in the new”, I guess you could say. That little light also caused me to stop and remember the day I met ‘Lil Blue’. It was on a hot, Saturday afternoon in Mid-August of 2009. It was funny how we became such close friends almost immediately and somehow, the nickname I gave her of ‘Lil Blue’ just fit. That’s what I’ve called her since that day, something that we often do when we truly care for another.
She has been a dear friend, indeed, going with me most everywhere I’ve gone since we met. She’s gone through the dead of winter and the blazing heat of summer with me and never complained, not once. She has literally carried me through some difficult situations. ‘Lil Blue’ has been a true friend, so when that light came on reminding me of a need for a change, I knew it couldn’t wait. It was very important to me to be sure and follow through, because, you see, the change needed was for ‘Lil Blue’ this time, not me. This was a “cleaning out of the old, replacing with the new”, something crucial to her wellbeing. This happened to be something that she couldn’t do on her own, this called for an expert, someone who would take care of her perfectly. You see, ‘Lil Blue’ is my pretty, Glacier Blue Honda CR-V, my trusted four wheeled friend who faithfully carries me just about everywhere I go. A true friend indeed and, well, it was time for her oil change…out with the old and in with the new…clean and renewed.
Sometimes we need a little nudge…that light to shine, reminding us of the need for a change, a time to “clean out the old and put in the new” in our own lives, something Christ wants to do for each of us, caring for us perfectly. Not an oil change but a heart change. A cleansing of the heart that only Christ can do for us, so beautifully. He loves each of us so dearly, calling us by name, probably our very own lovingly given nickname, that only He calls us. Christ IS the light, the light of this world, that when called upon, will cleanse our hearts…out with the old and in with the new…clean and renewed…

Thank you you for sharing it with us
Your mom was a talented poet . You should compile them all into a book for your family and friends—they came straight from her heart❣️
