Even the Small Things

I love it when you can see God's hand in even the small things. ~ This past weekend while my Lacee pup and I visited my mom, we sat in the large living room of the nursing home, enjoying the beautiful Christmas tree. While there, the kind gentleman in this picture came and sat down and Lacee immediately went to him and sat down by his side. They seemed to become friends instantly.

Now, to respect his privacy, I chose to crop his picture. But I wish you could see his kind and gentle smile and eyes that smiled at you, too.  I walked over to him and loved hearing him tell of his Border Collies that he obviously had enjoyed in his younger years.  After a few minutes, he took his walker and slowly made his way towards his room.

As I looked back at the picture of him and Lacee, I wanted so badly to share this precious picture with his family, but had no idea who they might be.

Sometime later, after a stroll down the hallways, we returned to enjoy the tree again.  While there, a lady hurried through and soon returned with this same gentleman! She had come to take her dad to lunch.  When he saw Lacee, he stopped to pet her once again.

As we visited briefly, I took advantage of the moment and showed her the picture of her dad and Lacee.  She fell in love with the picture, just as I had and asked if I would please share it with her.  Needless to say, I was more than happy to do so!  Thrilled, actually!

After making sure she had received the cherished picture, we both almost teared up.  As she clutched her phone containing the photo, she said, “Thank you so much!  You have blessed me today!”

As we said our good-byes, I thought about what she had said and realized that actually God had blessed us, both!

(And, by the way, this precious man’s daughter’s name is Debbie, too!)
