The New Year

During a phone call to my sweet 97 year old mom this evening, wishing her a Happy New Year, I got to hear her share one of my favorite New Year’s Eve stories.

One New Year’s Eve my mom and her sister, Cleo, got permission to stay up until midnight to watch the New Year come in.  They could hardly wait until it was finally approaching the stroke of midnight. Climbing up on the kitchen counter they began to look out the kitchen window, hoping to see the New Year arrive.  After just a few minutes of wide eyed searching of the night, they looked at each other, somewhat disappointed, wondering what all the excitement of the arrival of the New Year was about.  It seemed that the New Year looked a lot like the old one to these young sisters.

Even though the New Year LOOKS a lot like the old one, I hope that 2015 is a wonderful year filled with blessing after blessing for each of you…my family and friends!  Wishing you a Happy New Year!!
