One Messy Morning
A perfect weekday morning for me, hopefully, consists of a quick snuggle with my Lacee pup…letting her out…getting my cup of coffee…letting Lacee back in…feeding her…then a little quiet time before getting ready and rushing off to work. ~ Now, mind you, I said that is what I hope for.
Well…this morning started off a bit rocky or should I say, messy, rather than so “picture perfect”. Seems I shook the pouch of WET dog food a bit too vigorously, ripping it open before I was ready and, thus, throwing wet dog food chunks across my kitchen floor! (Must say that Lacee was a big help as she cleaned up most of it for me…once she had gobbled up what food made it to her bowl.)
Now, moving forward…I made it to work all in one piece and began my morning routine at the office, making coffee (one pot of regular and one of flavored) and setting out left over sweets from the day before. All was going smoothly until I picked up what appeared to be an empty Styrofoam cup perched on top of a large container of animal crackers, only to find this 16 oz. cup was almost completely full of water, which I managed to throw all over the place! By this point I have to admit that I became a bit annoyed, mumbling to myself “WHO…DID…THAT!”
Then thought, OK, Debbie, you can let these little messes set the tone for your day or you can choose to shake your head and laugh about them. When I took a good look at my morning, I actually got a slight case of the giggles. ~ When I returned to my desk I thought back over my morning mishaps and thought how quickly our best laid plans can turn “messy” when we least expect it…sometimes BIG messes or maybe just some small ones, like mine this morning. But isn’t it comforting to know that in the midst of our messes, God is in control and can, and wants, to help us clean up and makes things right again?
Thank goodness, He loves us unconditionally and looks at our messes as an opportunity to show His incredible love for us…I like to think…smiling all the while.
